It is part of the new system of battery regulations within the EU.
The regulation came into force on August 17, 2023 and will be fully implemented from February 18, 2024 onwards. It replaces the old battery regulation from 2006 and is an important part of the European Green Deal, which aims to promote the EU's circular economy and meet carbon neutrality targets. To ensure compliance, Amazon has issued a notice requiring all sellers of batteries or battery-containing products on its German, Swedish, Polish, and Dutch sites to complete the EPR registration for the respective country by August 18, 2025, and upload the registration number to the Amazon platform.
